The Jeffersontown High School Alumni Association is a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) - 509(a)(2). We are based at Jeffersontown High School and we are dedicated to the Alumni, Students, Teachers, Staff & the Community of Jeffersontown. We endeavor to provide a central location for information regarding alumni interests, reunions and events. To help our alumni reconnect with their former classmates, to provide guidance in planning alumni events, to organize alumni events and more. Plus we are raising funds to assist in special projects for Jeffersontown High School, to hold alumni events, to provide recognition for alumni, college scholarships for continuing education and student accomplishments, plus provide communication tools, like this website.
The purpose of the Jeffersontown High School Alumni Association is to recognize, promote, and celebrate the success and achievement of Jeffersontown High School graduates and faculty; and to provide information about school and alumni sponsored events. In honoring JHS student and faculty alumni, we shine a bright light on past accomplishments; and provide a vision for future possibilities that are available to students, faculty, and fellow alumni of our great community and school.
The original Jeffersontown High School; which opened in 1925, was located at College Drive and Dell Road (what is now College Drive and Galene Drive).
The 1st graduating class was in 1926, graduated eleven students. The original school colors of Green & White, proudly adorning their mascot named “The Gentlemen”.
The high school was an extension of the original Jeffersontown Elementary School in J-town, which opened in 1914. The school was seriously damaged by a fire in 1940. The school subsequently conducted some classes in church Sunday school classrooms in the area, but it was later closed in 1950. After the original school was repaired, it was used for the Elementary School; which was eventually torn down and replaced by Tully Elementary School.
